Ashley’s House is a NARR-compliant, peer-to-peer recovery residence designed to help individuals learn how to live life on life’s terms in a structured, residential setting. Located in a single-family residential neighborhood, our home operates as a supportive single-family unit.
Because substance abuse is a recognized mental illness by the Alabama Department of Mental Health, our residents are a protected class of citizens. Under the law, Ashley's House is eligible for a reasonable accommodation to operate within a residential area, allowing unrelated individuals in recovery to live and heal together as a family.
What You Get When You Move In
We believe in rebuilding your life from the ground up. When you join our family, we immediately help you secure your vital documentation, including:
- Birth Certificate
- Social Security Card
- State ID or Driver’s License
Once your documentation is ready, we coordinate with local employers to help you secure full-time employment, typically within your first two weeks.
Community, Faith, & Fellowship
Ashley’s House is a Christ-centered recovery residence. We are deeply connected with several local non-profit organizations and churches in the community. Our program structure includes:
- 12-Step Recovery: Active participation in Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) recovery families. Every resident is required to work the steps and have a sponsor.
- Church Services: Regular attendance at local church services to strengthen spiritual growth.
- Accountability: We maintain a strictly drug-free environment through random and regular urine and saliva drug testing.
A True Family Unit
We operate as a household, sharing the costs of rent, electricity, water, and transportation. We take care of each other, sharing meals and even clothing for newcomers who arrive with nothing to their name.
If you do not have a driver's license, we will help you identify the steps needed to get it back and work toward that goal. In the meantime, senior residents who have achieved their licensing goals help transport those who are still working toward theirs.
Financial Responsibility & Sponsorship
The average cost to stay at Ashley's House is approximately $265 per week, which covers shared living expenses. However, we understand that rebuilding takes time. If you do not have the funds when you arrive, we offer sponsorship programs to support you until you get back on your feet. We never turn anyone away due to an inability to pay.
